I was surfing the net when I stumbled on this. It brought back memories; it's just like nature is working with me to remind me of my good old NYSC days. This article was actually written when I was serving after I watched a football match (FIFA World Cup) in my neighbor's apartment. I went to his place because I was very bored and he turned on his generator since there was a blank out.
The match I watched actually inspired me to write the article. I was so hurt that I penned my feelings. My feelings turned out better on paper, well on my computer screen as it applies in this case, so I sent it to the Punch Newspapers. I loved what I wrote and just wanted to share it.
To my amazement, The Punch Newspaper published it (in the youngsters section)! That was in 2010. I was really glad and I have never stopped writing since then. Just want to share it with you guys too...

ALWAYS BE PREPARED
Sometimes in life, God provides us with opportunities that do not come twice, and once missed, they are gone for good. Let us take a critical look at the match between Ghana and Uruguay in the 2010 edition of the FIFA World Cup in South Africa. We can infer that God gave Ghana a chance (the penalty kick) to qualify within the last thirty seconds of the second half extra time. At that golden moment, the world thought Ghana had scaled through. But to our uttermost dismay, Gyan missed it.
Imagine Gyan had scored; Ghana would have set the record as the first African country to qualify to the semi finals in the FIFA World Cup. Sadly, it is still a dream. Nonetheless, we can all learn something crucial from this disappointing and excruciating experience; always be prepared.
We all have dreams and aspirations which we would love to fulfill to give our lives a complete meaning. But to achieve them, we must set goals, both long and short term goals. Also to achieve these goals, we need to set targets which involve a series of steps that will equip us for the positions we aspire to hold. These steps could be: browsing the internet for information, reading certain books, going for training programmes or courses, and many other activities. They would surely require our time, finance, hard work, dedication, patience, and the like.
To be achievers, we must continually develop ourselves in the direction of our dreams and aspirations so that when the golden opportunity arises, we would not miss it. Instead, we would grab it and use it to get to the top!
