There is never a Perfect Time

Jeez! The last time I published was on the 21st of September 2014, and a whole lot has happened since then. One of them was work, work, work, work, work, work...
My department was given additional job duties which I found overwhelming. (overwhelming in a singsongy...) I got home fagged and unable to think straight, let alone type anything. My laptop seemed like a burden and typing seemed like a chore. (I prefer typing using my laptop to my phone. Although that's gonna change from now on.) I told myself, 'this too shall pass' and gave my body time to readjust to the new workload.

Unfortunately for poor me, as I was readjusting, (which actually took an unnecessary long time), another change hit me. I was temporarily reassigned to another location which had way more work load than the previous, and it was farther from home. The road...OMG was more than terrible! Calling it a bumpy ride to work is an understatement. I was also one man down at the new location for some weeks which was killing. During that period writing didn’t appeal to me in any way. I just wanted that phase of my life to be over.

However, I realised that there is never a perfect time. Something must always come up to distract you. It’s just the way the world works. That is why there is a word called FOCUS. I actually lost focus. I had no excuse to stop writing. Like my bestie said, I was just plain lazy. I am even busier now but I am more focused. The clock will not stop ticking for my sake, neither will traffic stop moving. I have to just make it work, which is what I have decided to do from now on. No going back!

So my darlings, I am back with a bang! (I just wanted to say that, love the sound of it.) Anyway darlings, until my next post, stay focused!

To hell with those feelings, God is always with you!

God loves you and His love is endless. His love for us is incomprehensible, words are not sufficient to describe it. He loves you more than your mum loved you when she gave birth to you. God loves you more than you can ever love yourself.
Do not let any situation you are going through take you away from His love. No matter how unpleasant the situation is, hold on to His love.
When you don't understand, still hold on to Him.
God will never give up on you. The fact that you are alive means He is not through with you and His plans for you are good.
Sometimes you may feel like He is far from you when you need Him most, to hell with those feelings, God is always with you. He never leaves you even when you go astray.
Never feel ashamed or unworthy to run to Him when you fall, His love is forgiving. His chances are unlimited, so never feel it's too late.
Begin each day with confidence in His love. In His love there is strength, joy and peace which the world cannot give. Strive to be close to God because

I pray this touches someone...

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR CHILD IN THE WAY OF THE LORD-Tips to remember

I wrote this article which got published in our 2014 Children and Youth Harvest brochure. The harvest took place today and I thank God for answering my prayer-it did not rain. *smiles* This write-up is for parents and intending parents. A friend of mine said her dad needs to read #2.
Children are precious gifts from God and they need to be nurtured with wisdom because the way a child is trained determines to a great extent the type of adult the child would become. This means parents have a large role to play in the lives of their children. Below are tips parents should always remember as they train their children in the way of the Lord:

Do not try to play God: Parents should allow their children to be who God has created them to be. Do not plan out your children’s lives without seeking God’s opinion or their opinions. Your job is to guide them in the way of the Lord, not control them or manipulate them. If he wants to study theatre arts, don’t force him to study law. Do not kill the dreams of your children by imposing your dreams on them. God has a plan for each child.

Do not compare your children: Child A could be excellent at Mathematics, while child B could be excellent at Literature, whichever case, there are both excellent. Parents never compare your children outright or secretly. Never let a child feel like his or her sibling is better or is loved more. Do not breed unhealthy competition among your children. This could lead to jealousy and disunity. Embrace their differences. Your first child may be book smart while the second may be more skilled with his hands. Learn to accept and love your children for who they are.

Discipline with love: Just like you do not kill a mosquito with a hammer, do not treat your child with so much aggression over a minor transgression. When your child does something wrong, punish with love and not anger. Don't just scream and insult, criticise constructively. Let your child know the reasons why his/her actions are wrong. Also do not call your child derogatory names or label him/her negatively. You would be doing more harm than good.

Listen to your children: For some parents, it is either their way or no way. They assume they know what is best for their children and don't listen to what they have to offer. Any  ideas from their child that is contrary to theirs seem like a challenge to their authority. It should not be so. You kill your children's self esteem each time you shut them up  when they try to express themselves. Although your child shares your genetic makeup, he/she is uniquely different from you. It is not a crime to engage in healthy arguments with your child, it could help you learn more about your child or even learn from your child.

Be a good example: How can you teach your male child to love and respect a woman when most of the time you belittle your wife and treat her like her opinions do not matter? How can you teach your female child to be a peacemaker when you always nag and insult your husband in their presence? Exhibit values you want your children to imbibe. Be a role model to your children.

Commit your child to God: God says "Without me you can do nothing" and anything put in God's hands is safe, so always commit your children to God through prayers. Also teach them the word of God; bring them close to God; and let them understand what it means to serve God in spirit and truth, because life is a whole lot better when you walk with God.

Finally, I will conclude by quoting Proverbs 22: 6 "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it."
Till the next post, be uniquely different!

Plan but do not worry!

Worry! Worry! Worry! A trait becoming of humans these days due to the rat race for power, money, wealth, status, class, fame, or for anything we consider important to fit into the present world's notion of 'successful'. We worry at different and every stage of our lives.

When leaving primary school, we worry about the choice of secondary school.
When leaving secondary school, we worry about the choice of university and the course to study.
When leaving the university, worry about where we would be posted to for NYSC.
When leaving the orientation camp, we worry about our place of primary assignment.
After youth service, we worry about when we would get a job, the type of job, the salary and other related issues.
After getting a job, we worry about promotion, better salary or benefits, or a better job.
After getting a better job, we worry about marriage especially the female folk.
After marriage it's children, the sex of the child, their education...and the list is endless.
We worry about almost, if not everything.

No incident is too small to take a cue from: I normally take food to work, breakfast and lunch because I am not a fan of buying food outside all the time especially when I can prepare mine. One evening on my way home from work, I got thinking, ''what food will I take to the office tomorrow?'' I started thinking of what we had in the house and what I could prepare with them. "I will cook rice...oh, no stew!" "Is there still vegetable?...daddy ate the last one last night." "There is yam...maybe I should buy eggs. Is there tomato sef?" "There is noodles yipee!...yuck I don't want noodles!"
"There is even Irish potatoes...nah, I don't have time to peel those things."

After racking my tired brain that was still trying to process how long I would spend in the traffic jam, I cautioned myself to stop thinking and take whatever I see when I get home. I got home and was preparing my dinner and my dad’s when my mum returned from work. She welcomed me with a gift bag from her friend whose daughter celebrated her birthday.  It contained a plastic pack of jollof rice with chicken and lacasera...and  guess what? My mum gave me her gift bag with everything in it, making it double!
Lucky me right? If I could see the future, I would not have bothered my brain by worrying and I guess God must have been shaking His head as I weighed all my food options.
(This incident actually inspired this blog post, it happened when I was still living life on the fast lane)

God has said it, do not worry about tomorrow, let tomorrow worry about itself. For today has enough worries of its own.
By worrying you will not change a thing which God also confirmed. Instead, turn your worry into faith and trust. Have faith in God, trust Him that everything will be fine and it will be.

He didn’t say you should not work hard or plan; He said "don’t worry!"
So plan with confidence believing that all will be fine. Do not try to accomplish a month's task in one week. Be realistic! Put in your best and leave the rest to God.
In Proverbs, it is written "look straight ahead with honest confidence; don't hang your head in shame. Plan carefully what you do, and whatever you do will turn out right." With the aforementioned and looking at the story of Joseph in the Bible...you have absolutely no modicum of reason to worry about anything. You don't want to have high blood pressure because you are worrying unnecessarily, do you?

My quotes to learn from
When God says you will, you will. Fredilia Momodu
...so why worry? A friend told me that there was a day she was so worried about her future that she was close to tears. She was to take JAMB exam for the second time and was feeling downcast. She has a passion for the art of makeup and bead making and wanted to go professional. I introduced her to a good friend who is a makeup artist and does bead-making and gele-tying. She was willing to train her at a very affordable price but her father refused, claiming she had to gain admission first. She said different thoughts were running through her mind, mostly negative. Then she decided to log on to Facebook to ease off. She said the first thing she saw was that quote, "When God says you will, you will. Fredilia Momodu" and it felt like God just patted her on her back. She said she was consoled immediately and chased away the negative thoughts with God's words.
Right now, she has written the JAMB exam, she passed and is about to write the post UME. She has started learning the art of makeup and bead-making and I can bet my green and brown block-heeled peep-toes that worrying didn't have a role to play.

So, enjoy each moment of your journey to success. When you fall, learn and rise up again. Commit your whole life to God. Learn to let go of the wheel and let God take the driver's seat. Do whatever you have to do (not bad things) to be who you want to be; but most importantly, do not worry...

It's very hard not to get even a lil bit worried these days. The key is to just put everything in God's hands. Nice post.

Inspirational quotes by Fredilia Momodu Happy new month!!!

Happy new month people!!! We made it to June!!! Hurray!!! Glory to God!!!

All protocols duly observed...I noticed through my live traffic feed that a reader from the US checked out one of my past posts this morning What a great way to start a new month! Or what do you think?  This make me re-read the post and I got inspired all over again. You should check out the link too and get inspired. News and entertainment gists may go stale but inspiration doesn't. It is one of the reasons why I adore personal bloggers who take out time to creatively express themselves so we can become part of their lives. I must confess, it isn't easy but the passion and the love for it suffices plus your support. (I love you my readers!!!)

Part of the post 'What a great way to start a new month! Or what do you think?'
Recently I told myself that I would make it a habit to read my bible every day. I made this resolution because I have been finding it difficult to commune with God like I used to when I was much younger. This is as a result of my busy schedule which I explained in one of my posts How to live life on the fast lane
It has actually been bothering me because I am nothing without God. He is the owner of my life, my strength, my protector, my provider, my everything and a strong relationship with Him is the best thing that can happen to any man. I had to put God as part of my plans as I am part of His. I made it a point of duty to study my bible every morning and I also subscribed to daily readings from ‘UCB Word for Today’.

This morning when I woke up, I prayed and picked up my Bible. I opened to Psalm 5 and read the words. The last verse was ‘You bless those who obey you, Lord; your love protects them like a shield.’ I was overwhelmed and calmed by those words; they struck me. I asked God, “How can I obey you? I want you to always bless me and I want your love to always protect me like a shield” I closed my eyes and meditated on those precious words.

Then I resolved not to consciously do anything that my conscience tags as sin; to be the best I can be in all situations; to glorify God with all He has blessed me with; to thank Him in all situations; to always communicate with Him through prayers; to put Him first in my life; and to never lose faith in Him.
I felt really good afterwards and went on to read the ‘UCB Word for Today’. click the link to continue reading...
